Training Highly Skilled ProfessionalsTraining of specialists with top-level educational background and research skills takes place during the post-graduate and doctorate studies, and is one of the critical areas in MUCTR research and technological policy. MUCTR research and teaching schools enjoy the international recognition. Renowned scientists, and skilled specialists from among the University faculty are involved in training of the research, and research and teaching skilled labour, including 11 Academicians and Correspondent Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 220 Doctors of Sciences and about 150 PhD holders. D. Mendeleev runs day, evening and distant learning forms of training. Post-Graduate StudiesMUCTR trains its post-graduate students in a wide range of critical research skills in chemical, technological, biological, and economic sciences, including the follo-wing areas: Information technologies and electronics, innovative materials and chemical products, living system technologies, environmental protection and nature resourse conservation, fuel and energy, and critical technologies. In addition to that, the highly skilled specialists are also trained on a competitive basis. The number of dissertations completed as part of the Russian and international research projects, programmes, and grants has increased over the past few years to the tune of 200 PhD, Doctor and doctorate dissertation themes. During the training process, the post-graduate students have an opportunity to improve their knowledge of foreign languages, combine research studies with teaching, take internships or jobs in accordance with the mutual agreements with the cutting-edge research labs at the leading universities and colleges abroad, and attend international conferences and symposia. About 150 trainees have participated in the internship and educational programmes at the foreign institutions over the past five years. MUCTR supports post-graduate students and young researchers, providing social assistance to post-graduate students who work on dissertations addressing vital industry issues in the form of individual scholarships, Academic Council scholar-ships, as well as scholarships made available by the President of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation and Moscow Mayor. The University provides full-time and extramural training with tuition paid either from the budget funds, or by the student on a contract basis. The University has wide international contacts, including Germany, France, United Kingdom, Belgium, Hungary, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Czech Republic, Finland, the Netherlands, Israel, Japan, and the United States. Doctorate StudiesMUCTR doctorate studies provide training of outstanding quality to the top-level researchers for the research, research and teaching, and innovative spheres of activity. The training is provided in a wide range of scientific specialties in accordance with the priority areas of science, technology, and engineering. The doctorate program-me trainees have their work supervised by the designated scientific consultants from among the leading University researchers, and the institutes at the Russian Academy of Sciences. To be admitted for doctorate studies, one needs to hold PhD degree, and present a letter of recommendation issued by the corresponding University department (unit, lab, sector). The University Academic Council makes the enrollment decision. The target doctorate studies exist in the form of full-time post-graduate professional training based on a contract signed with a specific customer. The customer sends individuals holding PhD degrees to pursue MUCTR doctorate programme and provides them with employment following completion of the training programme. Over the past 10 years, PhD students and Doctor of Science traineers have defended over 700 PhD and Doctor of Science dissertations in chemical, technological, biological and economic sciences. |
